Happy Holidays everyone. Kate and Megan are really looking forward to Christmas. Megan's understanding of the holiday thing is somewhat limited, but Kate's enthusiasm towards it all has got her curious. The children make it all exciting. I hope you have a great Christmas and a happy New Year.

I survived another knee surgery

Hi All:
I had my second knee surgery this morning. I had some obstructions floating around in there, and a flap of cartilage that was causing problems. The surgeon removed the offending material and now it's healing time. I had visions of ACL replacement and a lengthy recovery prior to the surgery, but this was a fairly simple procedure. The recovery time will be much quicker than last time.

Dad's Birthday Party

We successfully tossed a surprise party for our dad. Doug masterminded the plan. He asked dad to help him get a table from the basement of the Silver Bay Bar & Lounge and when dad waltzed in, we all screamed "SURPRISE". A pretty good sized group showed up, and we all had a great time. You may be able to save the above picture and zoom in on it to see the various pictures.

Silver Rapids Camp Site

We just got back from our second weekend at Silver Rapids Lodge. It's nestled between Farm and White Iron Lake approximately 5 miles NE of Ely. It was 70º to 75º F and partly cloudy. We had to keep a close eye on Megan as she liked to take off running. I suggested putting a leash on her, but Glenda wasn't amused. On Saturday we got a little late-afternoon rain, but it stopped just in time to build a fire for roasting marshmellows. We had great neighbors on each side of us. Kate was saddened when her friend Elizabeth went home on Saturday. We exchanged addresses, so Kate can send letters to Elizabeth. We met a lot of great people during this past camping trip.

Thanks to Jim, Leeann, Billy and Elizabeth we acted on their advice and spent the afternoon at the Wolf Center. Clicking on that link will take you there. I got lots of great pictures and the kids really enjoyed seeing the wolves too.

August 5th 2005 Camping Trip

Silver Rapids Marina

This is our lastest of excursions. It's called Silver Rapids Campground and it's located about 4.9 miles from Ely, MN on the border of the Boundry Waters. The weather was great all weekend. We arrived there at around 7 p.m. and set everything up before going for a stroll to explore the campground. We met lots of real friendly people. Sunday came too soon, so I reserved our campsite for next weekend before leaving.
